Lou’s got the flu!

A few months ago my friend Mindie Linde asked me if I would be interested in doing a Roger Miller tribute night. I didn’t know much about him, other then King of the Road, but it sounded fun so I agreed. A few weeks before the gig I started going through Miller’s catalog of songs and discovered what an unique songwriter he was. The song “Lou’s got the flu” jumped out at me. The day before the show, I went to Pepper Proud’s house and we worked on the song together. The performance went really well, and Mindie said we should record it. I’d been thinking about that too, so I texted my buddy Bradford that, and he said to come over to his studio the next day. My buddy Jason was taking pictures at the show that night, so I invited him along as well. The show was in January, and one month later we’ve got this rad video I want to share with you. It was premiered through Kithfolk, an online roots music magazine. It was also recently shared on No Depression, which I’m really stoked about. Here is the link:

Come and see me and Pepper play on March 1st and Empty Sea Studios! Make sure to get tickets in advance cause I hear it is almost sold out.

New Happenings

Hey all, happy Spring. I wanted to let you know I’ve got a show coming up on March 23 at the Conor Byrne. I think this poster is appropriate for the season.

Over the last year I’ve been building my arsenal of recording equipment. I’ve been slowly churning out dreamy soundscapes. Not exactly sure where I am going with it, but you can check out some of my explorations here: https://soundcloud.com/mirabondo

I just found this video from last week at the Blue Moon, though it looks like it might have been made in ’88. Enjoy!

Nov 25-27

Come and celebrate the album releases for my friends and musical comrades, Pepper Proud and Gabriel Mintz. I’ll be playing an opening slot for both of these nights. Click on the posters below to be directed to the Facebook invites. I also wanted to mention that my sister Joanne will be calling a square dance on the night in between, Monday the 26th at the Tractor with the Tallboys. I hope you can make it to one of these nights, or all three! -Jon

End of Summer

Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 13th at the Tractor Tavern! I’m looking forward to being a part of this eventful night. Check out Corespondents, I always try to see them when I can, so I’m excited to be sharing the stage with them.

Over the last couple months I’ve been working together with Stew Sowers to make a music video. We ended up in Gabe’s room and the video at the bottom of this post is what happen. A lot of work was put into making it come together so I hope you enjoy it!

Here is another video I put together. I made this song on my phone during the last Moondoggies tour. When I got home I synced it up with some video I found on archive.org. Enjoy!

Spring

Haven’t been playing many shows lately, though I recently got a recording rig and in my spare time I’ve been trying to learn how to use it. Right now I am getting ready to go on a road trip to Alaska. Me and my girlfriend are delivering a car from Seattle to Anchorage. Can’t wait! Then I get back and Moondoggies have a show on May 11th and 12th at the Tractor with the Maldives. Two weeks after that we will be doing a tour opening up for for the Head and the Heart down the west coast. Later on in the summer Moondoggies will be going into the studio to record a 3rd album. I’m looking forward to these next few months. Check moondoggiesmusic.com for our schedule, and check back here, or Facebook/twitter pages for shows that might pop up in the next few months.

Back in March, I played at the Anchor Pub in Everett, WA. My hometown. Here is a video of me covering ‘Still Waters’ by Jim White. One of my favorite songs. Thanks to Lone Wolf for uploading this!
