Robert Kotta Memorial Songwriting Contest

I’m excited to announce that “The Bellwether Sheep of the Mosquito Fleet” has been awarded 2nd place in the Robert Kotta Memorial Song Writing Contest. Next Saturday, August 9th 2025, all the winners will be performing at the Port Gamble Maritime Music Festival starting at 1:45pm. The festival is free to the public.

This contest has collected 40 PNW maritime songs since originating in 2009. I am so excited that the story of the Bellwether sheep is among them. I feel like this song has a home now.

Back in January, I released a video of me performing this song on a beach near Alki when the temperature was in the teens.

Forecast says it’s gonna be almost 80 next Saturday, see ya at the Port Gamble Maritime Music Festival!
